Meadow Farm, Secretariat’s birthplace, has been preserved from residential development through the purchase of the property by the State Fair of Virginia (Atlantic Rural Exposition). Now known as The Meadow Event Park, the land will be kept intact and dedicated to the Commonwealth’s Agricultural Fair with an expanded equestrian component. The Meadow Event Park will develop displays to keep the legacy and legend of Secretariat alive in Caroline County and Virginia.

Lake Anna State Park features a swimming beach on one of Virginia’s most popular lakes, fishing pond accessible to children and people with disabilities, bathhouse-concessions complex, boat launch facilities, pontoon boat rides, picnicking and hiking. Visitor center exhibits trace the history of gold mining in the area and highlight the natural features of the park. Panning for gold and nature programs are popular activities. An outdoor environmental education pavilion is available for group use.
